Exclusive Economic Zone

Economic Exclusive Zones boundaries include polygons for 200 nautical miles. The EEZs included in the dataset are those for which a regulatory text exists in the framework of UNCLOS, following the web page of the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, Office of Legal Affairs, United Nations (http://www.un.org/depts/los/LEGISLATIONANDTREATIES/toc.htm). Each polygon has the following attributes: Country, Territory (in case of overseas territories), legal document name that establishes the EEZ for each country (Act, Royal Decree or Law, Proclamation or Executive Order), date of established EEZ, Law of the Sea Zone Type Identifier, Law of the Sea Nature of the Delimitation Name (it provides the number of states involved within the juridical text signed) and Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) standard for EU.
